5th QUARTER SCHOLARSHIP

DINOSAUR FOOTBALL’s 5th QUARTER ASSOCIATION

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE 5th QUARTER FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

These terms of reference (the “Terms of Reference”) set forth the application process and the eligibility requirements pertaining to the 5th Quarter Football Scholarships (the ”Scholarships”) that may be awarded by the Dinosaur Football’s 5th Quarter Association (the “5Q”) to eligible applicants.

The 5Q is a not-for profit association registered under and organized pursuant to the Societies Act (Alberta), and is also a registered charity under the Income Tax Act (Canada). The 5Q is not affiliated, associated or otherwise related in any way with the University of Calgary or any department or program at the University of Calgary, and as such is an arms-length independent entity whose purpose is to advance its stated objects.

The Scholarships are intended to advance education and amateur football in southern Alberta by providing financial assistance to certain student athletes. The number of Scholarships available for each academic year, the value of such Scholarships, and the criteria necessary to receive a Scholarship will be determined on a year by year basis and at the sole and absolute discretion of the 5Q. Each Scholarship will be in respect of a single academic year and should a successful applicant wish to obtain a Scholarship for a subsequent academic year, that applicant must again apply to the 5Q in accordance with these Terms of Reference.

In order to be eligible to receive a Scholarship, the applicant must: (i) be on the roster of a southern Alberta amateur football team; (ii) be attending or enrolled to attend the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Mount Royal University, St. Mary’s University in Calgary, or S.A.I.T. on a full time basis in accordance with that post-secondary institution’s requirements; (iii) with respect to applicants currently attending one of the foregoing post-secondary institutions, have at least a 2.0 grade point average (or the equivalent thereof) for the most recent academic year; (iv) with respect to applicants that will be entering the first year of study at one of the foregoing post-secondary institutions, have at least a 65% grade point average (or the equivalent thereof) for such applicant’s last year of high school; and (v) sign and complete the application form in full and deliver the same to the 5Q as set out below. The foregoing only sets forth the eligibility requirements in respect of the
Scholarships, and does not set forth the criteria the 5Q will consider when making a determination to award a Scholarship to an eligible applicant (which criteria will be at the sole and absolute discretion of the 5Q).

The deadline for receipt of applications for a Scholarship commencing in the fall term of an academic year is the preceding June 30th. The deadline for receipt of applications for a Scholarship commencing in the winter term of an academic year is the preceding December 15th. Eligible applicants receiving a Scholarship (if any) will be notified by the 5Q prior to the commencement of the ensuing academic term, and will be required to enter into a Letter of Award with the 5Q setting out the terms and conditions of the Scholarship.

Deadline June 30th, 2020
