The Connellan Family TEAM Award (Together Everyone Achieves More) recognizes outstanding volunteer contribution to the Dinos Football Program. There is no-one who personifies this award more than Jack Neumann. Jack's professional skills and enthusiasm have stimulated a high profile for Dinos football. As a volunteer, he has used his many contacts to secure speakers and significant fund raising items for the annual dinner. He worked tirelessly selling 5th Quarter Dinner tickets.
Jack has not missed a Dinos home game since 1978. His "Dinos Dottings" set a new standard for information used by broadcasters and media. Although retired as Sports Information Director, he currently assists in the the press box on game days and attends practices on a regular basis. He serves as an unofficial historian of Dinos football with his encyclopedic memory of certain games and plays. Jack has been involved with the publication of the 5th Quarter Alumni letter.
He was instrumental in the nomination process and subsequent induction of the 1983, 1984 and 1985 Dinos football teams into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. He was involved in the nomination process of former Head Coach Peter Connellan's induction into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
Jack remains the only Canadian to serve on the Board of Directors for CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and is the only Canadian in the CoSIDA Hall of Fame located in the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis, IN. He received the prestigious Order of the University of Calgary for his dedicated commitment to the University in 2005. In 2006 Jack received an Achievement Award from the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. His accomplishments have also been recognized by the Calgary Booster Club and The Calgary Italian Club.
The Dinos Football 5th Quarter would like to thank Jack for his dedication to Dinos Football and honour him with the 2011 Connellan Family Award.
